A photo competition at Skive Museum for both adults and children

Museum Salling invites you to a photo competition in connection with Skive Museum’s new exhibition \”Moments – dialogs over Time\”. The exhibition features works by the artist Bjarke Regn Svendsen that deal with the subject of PLACE.
Bjarke Regn Svendsen finds his motifs in the small station town of Tistrup, but his works could have been painted in any town. The proximity of the subjects and the ordinary things in the paintings could be found anywhere – in your own town or in your old photo album.
What do you need to do
Task: Put on Bjarke Regn Svendsen’s glasses and experience Skive as he would have done. Find locations and your very own take on ‘a snapshot in Skive’ with your camera or cell phone.
PLACE: Downpipes, parked bicycles, road signs, cisterns, house facades, locks on containers and cars are all favorite subjects on Regn Svendsen’s canvases. All the trivial things that we blindly pass by every day find a place on the canvas.
Let your camera lens capture the elements of Skive that you would normally overlook. Focus your attention on things in the city that you’ve never noticed before. Ask yourself – can these insignificant things have an aesthetic value great enough to be rendered as a painting?
Who can participate?
There are two competitions: we invite both children (ages 6 through 14) and adults (ages 15 and up) to participate in the competition.

How do I participate?
You can enter the competition by sending ‘your photographic moment’ as a printout by post to Skive Museum Havnegade 14, 7800 Skive. Write your name, age and contact details on the back and place the photograph in a sealed envelope marked: “Snapshots”.
You are also very welcome to hand in your photo at the museum in a sealed envelope labeled: “Snapshots”.

Important dates for the competition
The exhibition “Moments dialogs over time” opens during Culture Week on June 8 at 15:00
Photo submission deadline is Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 12 noon.
All participants are invited to the announcement of the winner at Skive Museum at 16.00.
You can follow Bjarke Regn Svendsen’s painting process from October 2024 until the beginning of January on a screen in the exhibition, Skive Museum’s Instagram profile and Facebook profile.
On February 7 at 15:00 we invite you to the exhibition opening with all the submitted photos under the title “Snapshots in Skive”. All the snapshots will be stored in the Skive City Archive, as a witness to how you could experience Skive City in 2024. After the exhibition ends in March 2025, the winners can take home their painting.

You can only participate with photographs that you have the rights to. By participating you confirm this.
Skive Museum may publish your photograph as an exhibition element and display it on its website and social media at no cost.
If the photograph depicts one or more persons, it is the photographer’s responsibility to ensure that the persons have given their consent for the photograph to be displayed in public.
